One wall that changes the room.

An accent wall done without restraint is a trend. An accent wall done with intention is an architectural decision. The material, the room, the opposing wall colour, the light direction — all of these inform what the wall should do and whether it should exist at all. We do not apply limewash to walls because it is popular. We apply it where the wall benefits from texture and depth.

Surface preparation is as critical here as in any other paint application. A limewash or mineral paint over an inadequately prepared surface — one with cracks, texture variation, or inconsistent porosity — will advertise every imperfection. We skim, prime, and apply in the correct number of coats for the product.

How we approach it

Three things that set this work apart.

Not every remodeler thinks this way. These are the commitments that separate a careful project from a forgettable one.

    Designed for the room, not from a trend.

    We consider light direction, room scale, and existing finishes before recommending an accent treatment. Some rooms call for texture; others call for colour. We do not default to the same treatment regardless of context.

    Sample approved before full application.

    All specialty wall treatments are sampled in the actual room, in natural and artificial light, and reviewed before the full wall is committed. The sample size is at least 12×12 inches — large enough to read the variation.

  • 03

    Substrate prepared to receive the material.

    Limewash and mineral paints are porous and reactive — they absorb into the surface rather than sitting on top of it. A poorly prepped wall produces a blotchy, uneven result. We skim and prime appropriately for the material.

Materials and craft

The finish only works when the layers beneath it are correct.

Interior remodeling is won in prep: substrate repair, trim alignment, layout marks, acclimation, and the order in which each trade touches the room.

Walls, floors, and openings are assessed before finish work so uneven framing or damaged substrate does not telegraph through the final product.

Finish coordination

Paint, millwork, tile, flooring, and lighting are sequenced together so one beautiful decision does not create a problem for the next trade.

Protection standards

Floors, HVAC returns, adjacent rooms, and furniture paths are protected with the same seriousness as the work area itself.

Four phases.
Sixteen months, on average.

One crew per project, start to finish. The same people who frame your kitchen are the ones who set the tile and hang the cabinets. No handoffs. No strangers in month seven.

Brief

A long conversation, in your home. We walk every room, measure what matters, and listen before we offer a single idea. Observation first.

Weeks 1–4
02

Drawings

Full plan sets and shop drawings — every cabinet measured on site, every joint specified on paper. Nothing goes to production without a drawing.

Months 2–4
03

Build

Our in-house crew handles framing, cabinetry, tile, and finish work. Same people, start to finish. No handoffs, no surprises.

Months 4–14
04

Sign

We sign the inside of a drawer face when we leave. Initials, date, and a number you can call for the rest of the house's life.
